Truckee River

Truckee River, CA is Lake Tahoe’s only outlet. Truckee River homes line the river banks from it’s origin in Tahoe City to Truckee. The river runs north of Tahoe City along HWY 89 passing Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley along the way. Truckee River is most famous for rafting, and in the summer it is filled with frolicking rafters. Commercial rafting available, but you can also bring your own raft and launch at 64 Acres in Tahoe City. Long bike path along the shore is also a favorite summer pastime.
